Designing Worlds DW273 - Remembering Soliel
In this very special episode, we pay tribute to the memory of our long-time friend and colleague Soliel Snook (Janet Wright in RL), who passed away recently as a result of cancer. Widely known and loved in Second Life, Soliel joined the virtual world in 2007 and quickly became a content creator - of a wide range of flowers, plants and other gardening accoutrements. She joined Radio Riel and was a frequent presenter. Soliel established the Snook's Garden Centre region and went on to co-create a region inspired by Claude Monet's village of Giverny.
In this programme, we visit the special memorial region designed by Gabrielle Riel and created by her and several of Soliel's friends, with its collection of "glades", one for each year that Soliel was in Second Life. The region will be open until June 4.
We talk to Soliel's friend and colleague Otenth Paderborn and we share our own impressions of our dear friend, as we visit the garden glades and show excerpts from some of the Meta Makeover (predecessor of Designing Worlds) shows in which Soliel appeared and that featured her work.
Goodbye Soliel, and thank you for all the brightness you brought us all: you will be sorely missed by many in both physical and virtual worlds.
