Designing Worlds DW289 - Virtual Health Adventures
In this episode, we visit Virtual Health Adventures, and find out about their research into the use of virtual environments to support amputees, and how the VHA has grown from a university research project into a valuable in-world resource for amputees, their carers and their families. We talk to the director of the VHA research project, Dr Sandra Winkler; Eme Capalini of Virtual Ability, and to Jim, an amputee who has been working with the researchers and runs an in-world support group for amputees. We look at the facilities and virtual training materials and how the project is developing – and discuss what the future holds.
